I have no excuse for how long it's been since I've posted. I had a hectic few days visit in NY, wasn't feeling well and then my excuses run out....
Anyway, there is nothing like a 75 degree and sunny day in January to break me out of my funk and inspire me to get back to posting and I have a lot of great things to write about like a great weekend visit with two of my favorite friends from college, Liz and Aunt J (aka Janice):
We had a great weekend of catching up, drinking wine, eating great food and cooking. I have to say, I went with the flow of the weekend and didn't plan much sightseeing, but they were great sports and it was nice to just feel like they were around for normal life. A few highlights of their trip:
Dinner at Aria in uptown - delicious menu and we happened to catch them on their Queen's Feast weekend (Charlotte's Restaurant Week), followed by a visit to one of my favorite night spots in uptown, Howl at the Moon, a fabulous dueling piano bar - love, love going there, dancing and singing along:
We managed to get an evening of cooking in so I could count it towards my weekly recipe. I apologize for the picture, but trust me it was a delicious dinner. Liz taught me to how to make the garlic mashed potatoes. I'm probably the only person that didn't know how to make mashed potatoes from mini red bliss potatoes so I won't bore you guys with the approximate recipe, but it counts as a recipe I learned for me!
