Crown Molding: Accomplished!

After four long days of the house being taken over by a contractor, the crown molding we have been wanting to put into the house is done.

We did normal 5' 1/4" inch molding through all the common areas. It nicely frames out the wall as you can see above our fireplace:


I love the clean feeling it gives the walls, but the exciting things we did was adding beadboard around the kitchen table area. Here is a BEFORE:

It separates the eating area from the kitchen:


We also created the illusion of a larger molding for the dining room. The contractor took what was already there, added one thin rail and painted in between it. Here is what it looked like BEFORE:

For our half-bath on the main floor, we decided to add a simple chair rail:


And then for our master, we did molding in the tray ceiling and the wall so it created a nice double effect:






That was one big project checked off the list!
